ABOUT THE COURSE

BACKGROUND & TOPICS:

Electrical Overstress (EOS) is the term for thermal damage that can occur when an electronic component is exposed to a current or voltage that is outside its specification limits. EOS-type failures are one of the major problems in electronics in the automotive industry, however, the share of electronic components in vehicles is increasing steadily and will continue to increase in the future. The VDA volume EOS in the automotive industry provides a way to handle failures that show signs of electronic overload. In this one-day training, the participants will be given specialist knowledge in order to work on structured EOS complaints in all their facets. Here, the processes of cooperation and problem solving between OEMs, suppliers and semiconductor manufacturers are discussed and recommendations for action are given.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

The training addresses employees from quality management, development, complaint handling and production as well as employees who are involved in problem-solving processes and executives in the named areas who want to strengthen their organisation with expertise on EOS.

OBJECTIVES:

The focus is on communicating the relevance and dimension of the topic of EOS, its causes and its fault appearance. It clarifies the difference between individual cases and frequent occurrences and discusses the challenges and limitations of solving a single case. Participants gain insight into the handling of EIPD cases and related processes, communication channels and escalation paths. In addition, attention is drawn to the differences between the special case EIPD and EOS, as well as concrete case studies on EIPD and causes of errors in the life cycle. In addition, the participants learn about the questionnaire as a means of communication and discuss its meaningfulness, as well as where the information comes from and why it is important. Likewise, the classification of EOS into the VDA process landscape (8D, Field Failure Analysis, etc.) follows, and, finally, the responsibilities and roles in the EOS topic are highlighted.

CONCEPT & METHODS:

During this training, technical lectures and (group) exercises alternate in order to support the transfer of the topics into the participants’ own work environment with a particular focus on exchanging experiences between participants and the trainer.

PREREQUISITES FOR ATTENDANCE:

There are no prerequisites for attending this training.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE:

At the end, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
